Ad films and brand films

Ad film production house in Bangalore

Ad films, brand films and campaign reels for brands, retailers and creators are made at The House of Edits, an ad film production house in Bengaluru, from the first idea through script, shoot, edit, motion graphics and colour. We were creative producer and video editor on Hombale Films' official one-year celebration film for Kantara: A Legend.

What we make

Films we make for brands

  • Commercial films

Short ads built around one product, offer or message, written for the place they will run, whether that is YouTube pre-roll or an Instagram story.

  • Brand films

Longer films about what a company believes and how it works, where the brand's own story carries the piece rather than a single offer.

  • Launch films

Films for a new branch, store or product, shot during the launch itself so the energy of the day is on record and ready for promotion.

  • Presenter-led ads

Commercials fronted by an RJ, actor or presenter, with the script written around how they actually speak so the brand message sounds like their own.

  • Milestone and anniversary films

Films that mark a year, a release or an achievement, built from existing footage, audience moments and new graphics.

  • Sponsor edits

Edits that place a title sponsor inside sports content while keeping to the brand guidelines that come with it.

  • Fashion and product reels

Short campaign pieces that let a product show its material, fit and detail, such as the fall of a silk saree in motion.

How it works

From brief to delivery

What you receive

  • Hero film at full length, as a high-quality master and a web file
  • Cut-downs to each length on your media plan
  • Vertical versions for Reels, Shorts and stories
  • Square and 4:5 versions for paid social feeds
  • Textless master for later offers and languages
  • Subtitled versions for feeds that play muted
  • Animated logo, offer and end card
  • Thumbnail and cover frames
  • Production stills, when photography is booked with the shoot
  1. The one message

We agree the one thing a viewer should remember and the action you want next. A skippable pre-roll has a few seconds to earn attention; a brand film on your website can take its time.

  2. Script and storyboard

You sign off a script, shot list and storyboard or animatic, so everyone has seen the film on paper before a shoot day is booked.

  3. Pre-production

Locations, cast or presenter, wardrobe, props and the shoot schedule are locked, and permission for every location is in hand before the shoot day.

  4. The shoot

We film the master version along with the extra framings the shorter and vertical cuts will need, so those versions are planned rather than rescued in the edit.

  5. First cut and finishing

A first cut with guide music comes to you for notes on pace and message. Once it is approved, supers and offer text are checked against your copy, then the grade, motion graphics and final mix are completed.

  6. Versions for the media plan

Every length, ratio and subtitle version agreed at the brief is exported to the specifications of each platform on your media plan.

Budget

What decides the cost of an ad film

  • Live action or animationA filmed ad needs crew, cast and locations, while a 2D animated ad moves the effort into design and motion. Many campaigns mix the two.
  • Shoot daysMost of a live-action budget follows the days the crew and cast are on set, so a script that groups scenes by location keeps it in check.
  • Cast, presenters and usageActors, models or a known creator each carry a fee, and that fee depends on how long and where the ad will run.
  • Number of versionsEach length, ratio and language is extra edit and export work. Settling the full list at the brief costs less than adding versions later.
  • FinishingMotion graphics, 3D, detailed colour grading, original or licensed music and sound design all add post-production time.

Questions

Before you ask

What is the difference between an ad film and a brand film?

An ad film usually sells one thing, such as a product, an offer or a launch, and ends with a clear action. A brand film is about who you are, so it can run longer and live on your website, at events and in pitches. Many brands need both, and planning them together lets one shoot serve each.

Can one shoot cover the YouTube ad, the Reels and the stills?

Yes, if it is planned at the script stage. We frame for vertical as well as landscape and schedule stills around the film setups. At the Kakal Kai Ruchi branch launch, photography was planned alongside the production so the same event gave both promotional and archival images.

Do you come up with the idea, or do we bring a script?

Either works. When you need the idea, concept development is part of the job: for the campaign videos with RJ Punitha Acharya, we devised the marketing hooks for each of the four brands before filming. If your agency already has an approved script, we start at the storyboard.

Our agency already has a production partner. Can you take on part of the job?

Yes. We can join for the shoot, the edit or the finishing alone. On the RCB, WPL and IPL work we were one of several partners, alongside White Melon and Fifth Element Productions, supporting production teams on the ground and in post.

Do you only make live-action films?

No. We also make 2D animated ads, motion graphics and 3D, and can combine them with live footage. For One MG Lido Mall we made 2D sales animations for its seasonal and retail campaigns, as landscape promotional films and portrait reels.
